What a start to Term 3! We arrived to find our classroom transformed by Ancient Egyptian symbols and a message left in strange pictures. We discovered that these pictures are hieroglyphics and were used by the Ancient Egyptians to write. Once we had the key, we were able to decode the messages and follow the clues on a scavenger hunt around school. From the classroom, to the art room, to the playground, the race was on to finish the hunt first. Although it was incredibly close, eventually team Lanta were victorious, returning their canopic jar to class first.
Next, we put our hieroglyphic skills to the test by writing messages to each other. We particularly enjoyed aging some paper to created hieroglyphic name tags! Overall, we are very excited to see what the rest of the topic holds!
